The nuns in the commercial were young women obviously attracted to the beauty of their model's body.
It may be a jab against vows of chastity. I believe that all single people should live in chastity until marriage, but monks, nuns and Catholic priests have chosen a life of irrevocable chastity.
I am sure that some took vows of chastity without giving due regard to whether they have the gift of singleness. I am sure that most who take holy orders have to, from time to time wrestle with the natural attraction to the opposite sex and our desire to procreate. But chastity should be a settled matter by the time that nuns wear the habit. We can't expect total freedom from temptation, but celibate Christians should enjoy the freedom and focus that chastity allows. It should be a rich, rewarding positive life.
The apostle Paul tells those who are unable to embrace the celibate life that it is better to marry than to burn (with passion).
I get the impression that these nuns are finally confronting an issue that they should have dealt with before they put on the habit. If there is any humor in this story, it is that we are all prone to look before we leap, to commit before we understand the full import of our decision.
I should know. i once dated the daughter of an ex-priest and ex-nun. Her parents are good folks who had simply made a decision for celibacy early in life and not thought it through as they should have. Their new life as a married couple was happy and honorable.
I don't think that life drawing classes are a sexually-charged situation. That's a teenage fantasy, not reality. I see no reason why nuns could not study life drawing too.
